Consistent RMAN backup in an Standby database in Active DataGuard mode (Doc ID 1419923.1)

Hello,

This is more a question aimed at someone from Oracle to answer.

Offloading database backups to the Physical Standby is recommended by Oracle.

However, according to the following Doc Id 'Consistent RMAN backup in an Standby database in Active DataGuard mode (Doc ID 1419923.1)' the log switch needs to be executed on the Primary database.

Why have Oracle not integrated rman with the DataGuard Broker so that the rman asks the Broker on the Physical Standby for the log switch on the Primary, or can a new DataGuard Broker command be introduced to ask for the log switch on the primary or can the following commands, if executed on the Physical Standby, be routed to the Primary Database for execution rather than returing 'database not open' errors on the Physical Standby:

Howdy, Stranger!
