Default book for analytics...

What impact on analytics have settings default book for analytics...What will happen if I set different book in user profile settings and run report...
report will work only on selected amount of data which have assigned selected book...?

I'm asking because this way I would like to restrict number records which is taken to analysis...and improve reporting performance
