Period End close by Operating unit

 We have several OU attached to the same ledger and found that in R12 when we close the period for one AP OU   that the period is also closed in all other OU's attached to the same ledger.  Is there a way to close the period in individual OUs in R12?   Perhaps a profile option or other?
