Windows Server 2008 64-bit Oracle, couple of questions regarding services, and Windows Application E

I am running Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 on Windows Server 2008 x64.  I have two questions (quite possibly related):

(1) I don't see good guidance on setting up or clearing out Oracle services with an out-of-place upgrade (11.2.0.1.0 to 11.2.0.3.0).  Any links you're aware of?

(2) Every time RMAN runs (production), and occasionally when other processes run, the user "Oracle.orcl" throws an "information" event in the Windows Application Events log.  It says there's no text where expected for "event 34", and that some component is either not installed or corrupted.  Any thoughts?  I'm thinking it has to do with legacy services, perhaps.  Or maybe a new service and this is "normal".  Either way, I haven't googled "event 34", even though it's the same event ID on both the production and pre-production servers.  Thoughts/ideas are welcomed here, as well.

Howdy, Stranger!
