E1: Queue kernel on AIX enterprise server stops responding and gets outstanding requests

On our JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.0 install with Tools Release 9.1.0.2 we have a batch enterprise server. At random intervals the Queue kernel stops responding. The number of outstanding requests starts increasing and in the end we have to terminate the Queue kernel process manually so a new Queue kernel gets started again. The jobs that were already processing during such incidents all go into the Error status so this is a very nasty issue. This happens on a AIX Unix enterprise server (version 7.1.0.0).

Does anybody have an idea what could be causing the behavior?

Howdy, Stranger!
