Purge or Consider Void all the previous Transactions

Dear,

We have a requierment that user want to make the nil the effect all the previous transactions we try to use the purge option but we faced some issue and we was not able to purge the transactions  finally  we decided to, Void , Cancel or reverse all the transactions as of 30-sep-2013 in AP,AR, FA,CM and GL and will close the period jan to Sep-2013 then from Oct-01-2013 user will be able to enter the Transactions.

I would like to know it's write stregethy in this case please advise thanks.
