Disable mandatory field

hello all, I want to disable requisition lines quantity for source 'CTO',I used new-form-instance and property enable as false.. It gives error like 
FRM-41316: Cannot set insert Allowed property of disabled LINES.QUANTITY
Also i tried for all properties insert allowed,enterable,update-allowed etc..but it won't fullfill my requirement.
Please share me if you have any solution
