Upgrade 7.8.2.3 (Currently on Solaris) to 8.1.1.X (to different OS - RedHat Linux)

  Hello,

We are planning to upgrade from Siebel 7.8.2.3 (on Solaris Server) to Siebel 8.1.1.x (on Redhat Linux server). FYI, our current DB version is Oracle 9i (9.2.x) and we are migrating to Oracle 11gR2 (11.2.0.4).

I have few questions:-

1. What is the current Siebel version that is supported on Redhat Linux? FYI, our targeted DB version is Oracle 11gR2 (11.2.0.4).
2. Are there any performance issue when using VMWare for hosting the application server (and DB server)? I have heard about it but not sure if that is correct statement.
3. Any major issues that appear in the whole process specially when migrating to RedHat Linux compared to Solaris?
