Ethernet over USB connectivity between the Service Processor and Solaris host
ILOM 3.x for SPARC in conjunction with Oracle Hardware Management Pack (OHMP) introduced the internal communication interface between the Service Processor and Solaris host providing Ethernet over USB functionality (usbecm).
The interface is presented as a regular NIC within Solaris and provides direct access the Service Processor without the usual dependency of using the external Network Management interface, useful in environments where this is not configured or is otherwise inaccessible.
In addition to benefits of having network access to the Service Processor from Solaris this also provides a method of collecting snapshot data when used in conjunction with ipmitool (Intelligent Platform Management Interface tool) - please refer for Knowledge Document
