Engineering Change Order - Do we use ECO to change an Item Description or Cross Reference in Produc

Hello Gurus,

my client would like to use an ECO to make a change on an Item Description that is already in Production (Manufacturing) as well as changing the Cross Reference.

Could you tell me if using the ECO is the right process to accomplish this task?

Please let me know what you would suggest.
