Unusual Usage or Spikes

I'm looking for a way to identify unusual usage or spikes in sales.  I would like to be able to set parameters to identify spikes.  I have a custom report that is old and needs improving but surely there is something standard in Oracle to identify such transactions.  I would appreciate any guidance.  Thank you.
