fs_clone space issue

Hi ,
I have installed EBS 12.2 and upgrading to 12.2.2. I have two questions

1. Is it possible to apply a patch without copying it to /u03/app/ebs122/fs_ne/EBSapps/patch location?

2. And my filesystem currently has only 60GB space remaining. Hence fs_clone fails with insufficient disk space. Is there a workaround of executing fs_clone without increasing the disk space?
