Strange results when using REGEXP_LIKE in Forms 10g

Hi All,
I know that this forms version is going to be desupported, but the company I'm working for still sticks to it, and maybe there enough experts around to give me some hints.

I'm using a strict naming convention for buttons to allow a single global When-Button-Pressed-Trigger to handle most of the "default stuff" by extracting am action from the trigger item name.

For example, if a button with name CONTROL.BUT_UF$BLOCKNAME$ITEMNAME is clicked, the base table column of item ITEMNAME in Block BLOCK should be added to the Block's ORDER BY clause and the block should be requeried, applying a ORDER BY ITEMNAME ASC NULLS FIRST to the block.

Howdy, Stranger!
