Java 7 Update Prompt
We recently upgraded to R12.1.3, and with that applied the patches to allow our users to start using Java 7 on their client PCs. Not many have upgraded from Java 6 yet, but as we replace and upgrade machines or perform work on them, our techs are rolling it out.
Today, our Java 7 users were prompted that their client version was out of date, and they need to upgrade/update. The exact message and situation is described on this blog post here.
Some of our users are able to follow the prompts, and updated without issue. Others are not aware what to do, and either clicked the wrong action and could not launch their java based forms, or paniced that their PC was failing/corrupted/infected. Part of this is user knowledge, part is that we as an organization distribute updates to minimize user interaction, and also this is brand new in Java 7.
