Stand alone instance on clusterware

hi,

We have standalone db and RAC db's sharing same  cluster enabled rdbms home.We had issues with upgrading the standalone dbs's (from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3) and dbua wont allow upgrade until we disable the rac feature ( make -f ins_rdbms.mk rac_off ). Is it required to do this during the Upgrade of stand alone db's on a cluster enabled rdbms home ? If that is the case can we enable(rac enabled) it back after the upgrade as we have other RAC db's running on this home ?
