Updating a class file - OAF

We are in the final days of an R12 upgrade from 11i and have found a critical error.  We opened an SR and  a new bug was identified. We have been told that the bug fix will be added in the next Rollup. Obviously with days away - rolling out a new Family Pack is not an option.  Oracle has not delivered a One off patch as of yet.

What risks would be involved with updated the Controller class file without having this be delivered in a patch?
