Using shared storage for something other than ASM on virtualized environment

I would like to setup a virtualized ODA with one or more EE databases running in RAC using the Oracle provided oakDom1 as well as other VM images running on each server node.  The databases I have will never grow beyond even a fraction of the capacity of the ODA shared drives.  Would like to re-purpose some of the spinning disks as storage attached to VM's running on the ODA outside of oakDom1.  The system drives for these VM's would be small enough they can peacefully coexist with the Oracle supplied oakDom1 image in the data store on the blades
