SCAN doens't work

Hi,
I have oracle RAC 11.2.0.3 running on Sun solaric, our application is able connect to database through VIP IP, but NOT able to connect through SCAN. Our application and database are on difference VLAN. I am not sure why SCAN doesn't work. I can connect to database through SCAN when I login the database sever. If you can give me any idea why, I am appreciated so much.
