WebLogic 12c new "default" option for WebLogic Plug-in enabled

I'm trying out WebLogic 12c (12.1.2) and I have a question.  I always enable the WebLogic Plug-in for servers and clusters.  With WLS 12c, there is a new option for this setting:  "default".  In previous releases, there was only "yes" and "no".  Can anyone tell me what "default" does?  I can't find this in any of the 12c documentation.
