Demand Scheduling Forecast Dates

Is there anyone that can clarify how the Advanced Preference for Forecast Dates in DSE module works together with the the R3465 when using a 52 period fiscal date pattern?  Found some info on Support site that leads me to believe that they do not work together at all.  If not, what is the value/purpose of the preference?
