ORA-12505: TNS:listener does not currently know of SID

 I have a 2 Node RAC Cluster which has 4 databases running (1- 2 Instance RAC Database, 1 Standby RAC Database and 2 Single Instance RAC database). The listener was running fine but all of the sudden, the Oracle clients which are in version 10.2.0.1 ,11.1.0.6 and 11.1.0.7 started to raise ORA-12505 for one of the single instance. 
The TNS Description uses SCAN-IP for this Single Instance database. However it was working till yesterday and now sometimes it gets connection and sometimes it raises ORA-12505.

The Oracle Clients which are upgraded to 11.2.03 connects successfully using same TNS to server through sqlplus but still fails with other Client Tools like SQL Developer, SQL Tools, Toad etc
