Default a role's homepage to a dashboard

 Is there a way to default a role's homepage to a dashboard?  We created a dashboard for our management roles and embedded the dashboard into a custom tab.  We'd like our management to log in and immediately see the custom Tab rather than the normal homepage Tab.  

Is there a way to do this or are all roles required to have a homepage?

We've attempted to remove the 'Home' tab (Step 5 of the Role Management Wizard); however, while the tab does indeed disappear, the homepage remains the old blank homepage.
