When A new partner tries to register on the Self Registration Page, using the link - Register As A Partner - I get the following error

The user could not be registered at this time due to an internal error Please contact the system administrator if this problem persists. Note to System Administrators: View source for more information about this error. 


However, the registration works, when Register as an individual is selected.

What could be the reason for this.
