Sun Flash F40 ZIL performance

The Sun Flash F40 card comes with four SSDs . These are formatted with nominal over provisioning. If any of these were to be used for a seperate ZFS intent log, would it improve performance to format these with performance over provisioning using the ddcli utility?

The user guide suggests you should not reformat without being directed by service personel, does this mean you can brick the device when doing it?
