OFA recommended location of utl_file directory

Generally my database users provide their own directory on a separate file for their utl_file activities.  Sometimes they don't.
Is there an OFA recommendation for locating this directory in 11g R2 database? 

File management is always a concern.  I'm tempted to create a database directory for this purpose that points their O/S user account's home directory
