ORA-01034, ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist (Oracle 9.2.0.1.0)

On a Windows XP VM I'm using to replay a customers' scenario I'm having a problem using the one and only instance there is on this machine, a 9.i ORCL and I'm getting this weird
SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production on Do Nov 7 11:05:36 2013
