Can we apply 32-bit patches on 64-bit databases on IBM AIX 64-bit Power system 6.1 servers?

 Hi,
Apps 11.5.10.2

I am new to the AIX Operating system, and most of the patches we require are only being offered as 32-bit. However, 
when querying the latest patches for 64-bit AIX systems, I am seeing 32-but patches listed. 
Does this mean that we can infact apply 32-bit patches on 64-bit databases/systems for IBM AIX Power servers?
