How could I get the operation status of AccountUpdate() or AccountInsert()?

Hi all,
I'm trying to append or update data for Account using AccountUpdate() & AccountInsert().
But their return values are LIstOfAccount. So I can't find out how many records are operated successfully or which records are operated failed.
Where could I get these status?
