How can I include the Manufacturer Part number cross references in search from Advanced Catalog?

We are a distributor and we create a cross reference to each item as the Manufacturer Part Number.  We are using PIM to export items update and reload.  The problem is I am unable to figure out how to include the Cross References in the the catalog for the import template.  Has anyone had any luck with this and if so, how did you accomplish?
