Modifications to Object Name during Retrofit

Our client is upgrading from Xe to JDE E1 9.1. There are some standard objects that are modified without changing name of the object(eg. P4210) in Xe.. Now during Retrofit if we change the Object Name to P554210 in JDE E1 9.1and leave standard P4210 as it is in 9.1, what are the different implications that might arise. P4210 is just for example. I am sure that this is not right practice, but can someone explain me what are different implications with this approach.
