10.2 -> 11.2 Rolling Upgrade using DG SQL Apply

Hi,
I am attempting a rolling upgrade from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3 using the approach outlined in Oracle's MAA whitepaper Database Rolling Upgrade Using Data Guard SQL Apply - Oracle Database 11g and 10gR2.
I have three databases in my multi-standby data guard configuration :-
- Primary (SID: bod1)
- Physical Standby (SID: bod1d)
- Logical Standby (SID: bod1r)
As per the whitepaper, I've upgraded the logical standby database from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3. However, after the upgrade the 10.2.0.4 primary can no longer apply logs (generated whilst the standby was being upgraded) because the 11.2.0.3 standby no longer registers the _XPT service and hence the primary reports errors :-
