Nation Identifier text field, when formatted, displays correctly but is not saved in the correct for

 We are using the format mask :FM999"-"9999"-"9999999"-"9 in personalization screen to format the national identifier  that is entered in the national identifier field(People Screen in HRMS). The format mask works and the data is displayed correctly but when saved this chainges to the original format. We have an issue here as national identifier is required to be printed in the correct format in the Pension reports.Please help
