Best way to clean up Install Base / Equipment Master

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of cleaning up our Equipment MAster (P1701) because in the past , when we were not sure of what we were doing, we used "band aid" solutions to solv certian issues.

Example we have some units with special charcters in the serial number like (12345678.) or a space at the end of the serial number (123456 ). Also some Serial numbers, when entered in to Case Entry pop up with a choice of2 or more units (different Asset#s i suppose)

I am looking for a way to:

  1. Make sure all units have the correct serial numbers (no spaces or special charcters)
