Advice/Best Practice on changing Fiscal Calendar?

Hello Community,

Our company is changing our fiscal calendar beginning in Jan 2014 to run on a calendar year; right now our fiscal year runs from July-June, so we will have a partial year this year.,  I wanted to see if anyone out there has changed fiscal calendars in CRM and what the best practices are for handling reporting and being able to compare the correct periods historically to future.  I have already opened an SR. but wanted to get advice from others who have experienced this as well.
