Are there any EBS customization standards?

Hi,

Though Oracle do not suggest cutomer to do cutomization on application system such as EBS and Siebel and GCS wont support customization, it is often very popular for cutomer to do so due to complex environment and various requirement. Then it  bring difficulty to  daily maintenance and future upgrade of customer system.

Does anyone could share some good experince on how to manage customization from very begining of EBS system implementation? Are there any customization standards that customer could follow?  Could customer get GCS support when those standards are strictly obeyed?
