Sorting on Columns in Pivot table Measures area

Is it possible at all to sort on columns in the Pivot table Measures area? There is no sort button with those columns. Reading the Lairson book on Reporting (p 335) it states all columns outside of the Measures area have a sort button. The sort button is available if the columns are moved to the Rows area. To meet the customer's requirements, I cannot move the colums out of the Measures area.

So far my only solution is to have the customer download the report to an EXCEL spreadsheet and have them sort the rows.

Does anyone have a work around to sort columns in the Measures area?
