Upload of data works, drill through from Planning to FDM fails with Error 2684

Hi FDM Gurus,
We are running Hyperion Planning & Foundation Services on v11.1.2.2.303 on 2 Linux servers. We also have FDM v11.1.2.2.300 on a Windows server. All of it runs 64bit (FDM installed as 32bit on 64bit).
There is no problems uploading data from FDM to Planning. Works like a dream.
However, when we are in a webform inside Planning and want to drill back to FDM we get this message:
Error: An error occurred logging on to the system using single sign-on. Please contact your administrator:
Error: 2684 - Unable to find the application named (<appname>) in the configuration file.
We have not been able to find any configuration file where this could be checked but we also think this is a standard message that really is not the issue.
