Turning off Email Notifications for New Tasks

I apologize if this is not a new post. I've never used the Support Community and an few initial searches didn't turn anything up...
I just had a request to turn off the email notifications that are sent out when a new task is created under someone's name. Is this possible? I haven't seen anything in CRM or searching through CRM Help or Google.
