Interested in Taking a Level 0 Hot Backup of Oracle 10GR2 using RMAN and Testing the Backup

 HI,
Have a 9 TB Oracle 10Gr2 production database on a HP-UX server.  I am planning to take a Level 0 hotbackup of the database using RMAN and then either cloning the database using the backup on the same server with a different name or on to a different server.  The backup files will be stored on a NFS mounted file system.

Is cloning the database on the production server riskier than on a separate server?

What steps should be done?

If I restore the database on a separate server and there are no other processes using the NFS mounted file system, is it feasible to umount the NFS file system from server 1 and mount the NFS file system on server 2( the server in which the backup files will be restored)?

Howdy, Stranger!
