Flashback database Issue

Hi All, i am in a trouble,  actually we  are planning to configure data guard for one of our critical database and primary database was upgrade from oracle 8i to 10.2.0.5 ..... but problum is we still using compatible parameter *.compatible='9.2.0' . now same parameter ll also be in our data guard site.. currently what i am doing is i have configured manual data guard and i use to copy archive log from prodcution to standby and apply manualy but we already planed to convert the same standby into actual data guard. but today i need to open that manual standby
