assets not repreciating full life

We have a small number of our assets in which the number of depreciation periods created is not equal to the usefile life of the asset, as defined on the asset profile.

For example the life of the asset is specified as 84 periods, which is the value populated into the 'life' column on the BOOK table as well as the assets' profile, but the 'life remaining' column is

set to 80 and the depreciation process only creates 80 months of depreciation.   Anyone have any ideas as to what may case this?

we are on peopletools 8.51.1 and financials/scm 9.10
