Workflow conflict

Is there a way to tell if a process or another workflow is conflicting a workflow when it tries to run. Recently we have had several instances, and not with the same workflow, where we would do a step that is

suppose to initiate a workflow. Sometimes they will work on the first instance, other times we may have to repeat the step a couple of times before the workflow activates. And I'm talking about things as simple

as checking a check box to initiate the workflow. Anyone having this issue as well?
