.AMS files in the Diagnostic_dest/metadata directory

Hi,

What are the *.ams file located in the diagnostic_dest/metadata directory?  I have several that are getting very large (HM_FINDING.ams,HM_INFO.ams,HM_MESSAGE.ams).  Can these files be cleaned up?
