Non-Stocked Item which does not appear in Purchasing

I need to record some items in Enterprise Asset Management as Materials which I do not want to created Purchase Requisitions for. If I turn off the purchasing flag, the items do not appear in the materials screen. I don't actually want to purchase these items, is there anyway I can somehow create the items in inventory, so they will show up in purchasing yet they won't be purchasable?
