from 11g R2 we know that cluster files will sit on asm.

Inorder to bring up the cluster by daemons,first init daemons need to read the ocr file.But our ocr is is sitting on ASM.

without ASM is up it cannot touch the ocr file.For this oracle given the olr file.

Oracle local registry file which contains the same information what ocr contains.

This olr file is independent to their nodes and cannot be shared in cluster across the nodes.

Fine so clusterware can read the olr file and startup the all components mentioned inside the olr file.
