Contract Billing - Place to add notes for a project

When using contract billing and job cost, we are looking for a place to add notes about the job.  We do not need to print these notes, more of an internal log of communications/actions/comments.  The notes would need to be added by various departments.  Is there a good location to to this verus just a text attachment on the contract level?
