How best to customize default styles when creating / editing an interactive report?

I would like to ask what is the best way to customize the default CSS style of new report elements (e.g. data columns) that are dragged and dropped into a new or existing report via BI Publisher Enterprise.
My employer has proprietary color and layout standards and we appear to be limited to incompatible default styles when adding elements to reports, which we then have to modify manually in the BI layout editor after adding them. I know that we can create style / layout templates for static export formats (e.g. RTF, PDF, etc.), and I know that we can hard code our preferences for interactive reports by modifying xdo_rel.js, WizTableColumn.js and WizPivot.js, but is there an easier way to define style preferences for interactive reports, including font size, color, weight, borders, padding, background colors, etc.?

Howdy, Stranger!
