Preparing new server to install Oracle ASM

Good morning.  I have a new server that will become my dataguard database server. It's a poweredge R720 with 2 146g and 6 4T drives. We created 2 virtual disks in the RAID; RAID 1 AND 5, respectively. I have OEL 6 Update 5 installed. When I installed the OS, I designated the second device, /dev/sdb1, to be a data disk. Now I am getting ready to install ASM (which is new to me). In the install manual for Oracle Database 11gR2 on page 3-13, it says "Note:
Oracle recommends that you create a single whole-disk partition on each disk to use.
c.Use either fdisk or parted to create a single whole-disk partition on the disk devices to use." The fdisk readout is the following:
