Business view field can't populate tree control

I have a power edit form. I dragged a business view field onto the form and added a combo box and a tree fields.

I tried to populate the tree field inside the Control Exited/Changed Inline ER of the business view field but nothing got populated in the tree.  I then use the same code in the combo box, Selection Changed ER and it populated the tree field fine

The code is the same on both the business view field and combo box but it only works with the combo box and NOT the business view field

Delete Tree Node(FC Cars, <All Nodes>, <N/A>)
