OAF DFF Personalization Question

 I added a DFF field to the iProcurement Requisitions form header, but the field doesn't line up with the rest of the fields.  I know there is an Oracle bug for this that has been a known problem for 7 years, but there is no patch as of yet.  The note mentions it can be done by extending a controller.  I've not done any OAF customizations before and I was hoping there might be another workaround, maybe via CSS.   I did experiment with custom.css but was unable to get the field to move where I wanted it.   The
